Hi Peter,

Here's the info about the preview and race discussion next
week. Thank you for sharing it with the various listserves we
discussed last week: LUCha, LaSup and the African
Association of Madison. I hope you will be able to attend the
event as well.

Take care,

Anne Wilder

Coming Together – Sharing our ideas and concerns about
racism and intolerance in Madison

Join Wisconsin Public Television and 10 local organizations for
the Madison premiere of “Two Towns of Jasper” – a film
documenting a community dealing with a race-related murder in
1998 – followed by a facilitated discussion.

A collaborative effort between a black and white filmmaker,
“Two Towns of Jasper” uses segregated film crews to chronicle
the residents of Jasper, TX. The result is a troubling portrait of
race that forces each of us to ask how and why a crime like this
could have occurred.

The free screening will be followed by a facilitated discussion on
the acceptance of race and diversity in Madison and Dane
County. Linda Greene, Associate Vice Chancellor of UW-
Madison, and John Nichols, associate editor at The Capital
Times, will facilitate.

7 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003
First Unitarian Society
900 University Bay Drive, Madison

Space is limited. RSVPs appreciated to 608-265-6360 or
{ HYPERLINK "mailto:[log in to unmask]" [log in to unmask] by January 17.

"Two Towns of Jasper" is for mature audiences only.
