Bill Berkeley is an editorial writer for The New York Times, and an adjunct
professor at Columbia University's School for International and Public
Affairs where he teaches "Writing About International Affairs."  For more
than a decade, he reported on African affairs for The Atlantic Monthly, The
New Republic, The New York Times Magazine, and The Washington Post.  He
wrote the book to be discussed here while a senior fellow at the World
Policy Institute at the New School in New York.
