POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

DIVERSITY TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS
ELEMENTARY and SECONDARY EDUCATION

for All But Dissertation candidates

The Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University
announces
a new fellowship program to support you as you complete the doctorate.
Two
positions are available - one in Elementary Education and one in
Secondary
Education. These positions will provide reduced load responsibilities for
the successful candidates so that they may finish their degree program.
The
positions can possibly lead to tenure-track appointments. (Position #2 is
shown on side two of this announcement)

Position #1             Elementary Education Lecturer - 3 year
appointment

Required Qualifications:        Advancement to candidacy (ABD) with
preparation in Elementary, Early or Middle Level education.
                                Experience teaching in schools.
                                Experience working with diverse
populations.
                                Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.

Responsibilities:       Teach undergraduate courses in Elementary
Education.
                        As possible, teach undergraduate courses in
Middle
Level
                                or Early Childhood Education.
                        Supervise elementary education students in their
field experiences.
                        Work collaboratively with staff at the Center for
                                Instructional Innovation.

Deadlines:              Screening will begin January 15, 2001, and
continue
until position is filled.

Position #2             Secondary Education Lecturer - 3 year appointment

Required Qualifications:        Advancement to candidacy (ABD) with
preparation in Secondary Education.
        Experience in schools, grades 7-12.
        Experience working with diverse populations.
        Ability to serve as a generalist in secondary methodology
courses.
        Expertise in at least one content discipline.

Responsibilities:       Teach undergraduate courses in Secondary
Education.
                        Supervise secondary education students in their
field experiences.

Deadlines:              Screening will begin January15, 2001, and
continue
until position is filled.
