Thanks Becky, for forwarding this message from the Cameroon Network.  I
think it undescores my earlier point that each one of us look at the series
presented by Prof Gates and register his/her individual positions and take a
stand, rather than admonishing us and preaching to us as to how we should
consider the facts, the evidence and the objectives of the Prof Gates before
we make any point about the issue at hand.  I think we are all capable to
making those decisions.

To me, this is part of the bigger problem.  Instead of going straight ahead
and talking about the question that is bothering us and taking a stand, we
Africans will find a way of switching the matter to long discussions of
pseudo importance and taking refuge in a higher power.  Such diversions and
spurious arguments and personal attacks don't solve the problem at hand nor
improve anybody's life, but ends up helping the cause of the individual
advocates. That probably lends credence to the argument that African
intellectuals in and out of Africa are more to blame for the woes of Africa
than any other group of people.

Let's discuss.
