I was introduced to the Celiac Digest in a strange and wonderful way and
it has been of great benefit to both my wife and i ever since.
I operate a chauffeur drive service in Ireland and as a result of a
letter published in the New York Times, which had been submitted by
clients from New York who had toured with me and had been grateful for
my services,a lady from Silver City contacted me about the possible
availability of my service for a holiday she was planning in Ireland
with her daughter.

She was to reveal to me that she was celiac, as she was very concerned
about the availability of gluten free products in Ireland. It was a
surprise for her when i informed her that my wife was also after
discovering through trial and error that she also could not handle
glutens ,eventhough her doctors had given her the all clear!!!!!!!
Surprise ,Surprise.

Needless to say as a result of my wifes experience,i was able to
reassure her that we would have no problems in providing her with all
the nescessary foodstuffs to ensure that her holiday would be a gluten
free one.

We toured for two weeks and i am delighted to say that both her daughter
and herself had a great time ,and so did i,and we remain in touch and
are now very good friends. This lady has given me permission to pass on
her e-mail address to anybody who is seriously considering travelling to
Ireland and who is worried about the prospect.

The position with regard to communion in Ireland i am not sure about but
i will check it out.I have a feeling that by special request a special
host can be provided but do not take this as Gospel.

Both my wife and i are Catholics and this problem does not arise for us
as my wife has an arrangement with the priest whereby he leaves a small
amount of wine in the chalice for her and while the communion is being
distributed she goes to the altar and partakes of the wine.

This arrangment can be made anywhere and my wife is quiet comfortable
with it.

If anybody has any other queries concerning Ireland or travelling to
Ireland please feel free to contact me and i will do my best to help in
any way i can.

I think that this is a wonderful service, and indeed fellowship, which
can be of marvellous help to those who can be open to sharing and ready
and willing to be honest with themselves about their condition and
willing to take the advice that is freely given.

Our son,who lives in Chicago,is now also gluten free and all this is as
a result of a message passed on from others which has been a blessing in
our lives.

Thank you all sincerely
