Hi, I recently read the following and did not catch the first post claiming
that Grainassance was not Gluten Free...
>Does anyone know of a gluten free Mochi (now that we know Grainaissance
>is NOT) in which you HAVE talked to manufacturers and know it is gluten
>free, and not contaminated in any way?
So I went to their site and it was posted as GF. So, I wrote an email to
the company and this is the presidents response:
>Dear Pixilated, Thanks for the email. Mochi is gluten free! Where did this
>celiac person who wrote the letter get that information from I wonder. We use
>rice and water, except in our flavored mochi. Still all of them have gluten
>free flavors in them. The Cashew Date flavor has vanilla in it, but is not an
>alcohol vanilla. Alcohol is often made from grain that may contain gluten. But
>I'm not sure if celiacs shouldn't have alcohol based vanilla anyway. Our mochi
>is usually available at natural food stores. Go to a store near you and tell
>them they can buy it from the distributor Nature's Best. They may have to
>special order it for you. But they can order two or three (maybe even one!)
>pieces. They do not have to order a whole case from them. Sincerely, Tony
>Plotkin, president. P.S. see our web site grainaissance.com
I look forward to trying this product. :-)
Hope this clears things up,
Lynda Swink
