I wanted to put my two cents worth in concerning the response that
Teresa got on her question about the gluten free status of cinnamon.

There was a person who responded very inappropriately to her question to
this list saying

<Of course! It is not wheat, rye or barley. Its a spice. Use your
brain.>

Not only is this a inappropriate response to a perfectly logical
question...it was also a the response of a person who obviously has a
bad attitude and no idea of just how many different things gluten can be
put into. This is a very dangerous response for any new member of our
group to read. It discourages questions when ALL questions should be
encouraged, and it tends to make people feel as if gluten is not in
ordinary things like spices.

Gluten can be found in the strangest places and in things that some
people wouldn't think to look, it is not always listed on the label of
the package and even tiny amounts can make us sick.

I have found gluten in cinnamon before and poultry seasoning and in a
package of ground black pepper...it is hidden in many products and
people can never be too careful or ask too many questions to insure that
what they are eating is gluten free and safe to eat.

This is a serious disease and I want others to know that NO question is
stupid.

That is just my two cents worth...take it or leave it. I just don't like
to see others discouraged from joining this group or contributing to it
because of a few inappropriate responses to a question. I have already
written to five people who fear answering or asking questions to this
group because of responses like the one Teresa just got.
