Has she tried the Monitor settings? Most monitors have
buttons on the front panel where you can set the
positions of the screen.

Clive, some very earlier monitors were known as
Postage Stamp monitors
because of the wide black border around the actual
display area. I have one
old 14" with the same characteristics and don't know
of any way to change
it. You probably will just have to live with it or get
another monitor.

There is no horizontal monitor adjustment button(only
vertical settings). Also the monitor was known to have
a full screen under Win 3.1. The catalogue says that
the screen supports upto 1024 x 768 pixels.
