I recently had my motherboard fixed and upon its return I get an erratic and
aggravating continuous beeping. It is a wave file. There does not seem to
be any pattern as to what causes the speakers to start beeping. It can be
shut off by muting the wave volume control. At the bottom it of the volume
control it says "Sound System Mixer (534)" It comes on at various times and
various volumes. I wiped out the drive and re-installed. With nothing but
Windows 98 installed the beep was there in a matter of minutes. So I don't
think it is a software issue. Everything worked fine before the motherboard
was "fixed". The original problem with the mother board was not a sound
issue. Nothing else has been changed.
In the Device Manager there are no conflicts showing under "Sound..". There
is however a conflict under "Other Devices" - Unknown device.
Could someone please advise.
