I've seen this problem on a lot of the Compaq's I have here at work. Some of these "Unknown Device's" I have founf to be USB ports or the Compaq thermal sensor or something that looks like some kind of electronic lock. If you really look through the hardware inside is there something that looks "different?" If the computer is working I just ignore the "Unknown Device's."

I don't know if this is apply to your problem or not, but I did see a similar problem on an IBM PC (except it was a sound/modem conflict). The fix turned to be the IBM parts only work with old driver downloaded from IBM, not else where. You may only use drivers from compaq in your case too.

Hope this help.
