Right! You mentioned an old floppy drive (should have a 34-pin cable with
lines 10-16 twisted 1/2 turn at the A: connector, whereas IDE uses 40-pin).
I believe you should consider installing it, if you can find and identify a
34-pin connection on the motherboard, an empty bay, an ample power
supply, and either a spare power connector or a "Y" adapter (best to use
the "Y" between the two drives least likely to copy to each other -
probably the LS120 and the floppy.)
The floppy should show up as A: (and B: for copying from disk to disk),
and C: as your bootable hard drive. The LS120 & CDROM would be D: & E:.
Any more, and you will have to insert a "LASTDRIVE=Z" (E is the default)
in your CONFIG.SYS file. The system would then boot from A: or C: (or
you may be able to pick others in SETUP).
My reason for suggesting this is it would reduce wear-and-tear on the
(more expensive) LS120. By the way, I may be "talking through my hat",
as I have never attempted this myself - I never thought I could afford the
luxury of an LS120 (although I hear they are great for graphics!).
Did I miss anything?
