I am hoping someone may have information on Acesulfame Potassium a sweetner
produced by Sunett.
My daughter has dairy allergies, food dye allergies, annatto allergy and
preservatives like nitrates in lunchmeats cause her problems as well.
She just had a viral throat infection this week, the first illness other
than food allergies in years.
I gave her Children's Motrin oral suspension without dyes, Meijer Cough
Syrup DM and Little Colds sore throat Saf-T-Pops no dyes. She has thrown up
the last 3 nights like she does when she has had dairy.
The only things new are these 3 items.
The customer relations lines of Little Colds and Motrin for children say
there is no dairy in the ingredients. However, the Motrin has acesulfame
potassium a sweetner, sodium benzoate (side effect can be vomiting per
internet search)
The Cough Syrup has aspartame and benzoic acid, both have side effects of
vomiting per internet search.
I cannot find any side effects information on the acesulfame potassium and
wondered if anyone had known problems with it or information on it.
Any history you may have had with one of these ingredients giving problems
would be appreciated. Narrowing down the problem ingredient may be very
hard. I may have to add them all to the list of watch outs for Isabel.
Thanks,
Cindy and Isabel
