ACADEMIC APPOINTMENTS
The University of the Gambia invites applications for appointments to
academic posts in the university in the following fields and disciplines:
Arts and Sciences
English (language and literature), French, Comparative Literature, African
Languages (linguistics and literature), History, Philosophy, Economics,
Commerce/Management Science, Geography, Political Science, Psychology,
Sociology, Tourism and Hotel Management;
Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics,
Physics.
Health Sciences
Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry;
Nursing, Nutrition, Public/Environmental Health.
Agriculture
Animal Science, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Mechanization,
Agricultural Economics, Home Economics.
Candidates must have a good degree in the field concerned, together with a
relevant postgraduate qualification, usually a doctorate degree. For posts of
Senior Lecturer and higher, teaching experience in a university or an
institution of similar standing, as well as substantial research and research
publications will be required as evidence of capacity to provide academic
leadership in a field.
Conditions of appointment will be competitive in relation to similar
positions in universities in West Africa and in the public service of the
Gambia.
Applications are welcome for both full time and part time appointments.
Visiting appointments on secondment or from people on sabbatical leave from
other institutions will also be considered.
