I have a friend who is blind and whenever she goes out to a restaurant, she
always asks if they have a menu in braille. Of course, she doesn't really
expect to hear "Yes," but she's always planting a seed by asking. Sometimes
they respond, "No, but we probably should have one."
If occurred to me that if each us follows the same tactic and always asks
if there's a gluten-free menu, we could be planting seeds as well and, who
knows, maybe restaurants will begin to think about it and actually produce
GF menus! It would be a lot easier for them than trying to continually
answer our million questions.
