Greetings,
Don't really have a question to the list, just an observation. Afew
years ago I was working with a guy that started getting sick. He had to
stay around a toilet all the time. He thought he had colon cancer and a
whole lot of other stuff. Doctors finally diagnosed him as being lactose
intolerant (he did drink a lot of milk) After this, his problems seemed to
go away, he quit his job and I didn't see him again until a few weeks ago.
He came into our shop holding his lower stomach with his hand and
had a painful look on his face. His complexion was grayish and he was
skinny as a rake. He said he was having a bad day. When I asked what was
wrong, he said the doctors diagnosed him with IBS. I mentioned that maybe
he should try not eating gluten. He didn't know what gluten was, and when I
told him he should try not eating wheat, he looked at me like I was a
lunatic. He said that you have to eat wheat to get a lot of fiber to "bulk
up". He left the shop and I haven't seen him since. I phoned his house and
left a message that if he wanted more info to call me. Never heard from him.
I wonder how many more like him are out there? He had never heard
of cd, never heard of gluten, his doctors had never mentioned this to him,
even though he has classic symptoms. I know that I'm glad for the day when
my doctor said to me when I was on the toilet 15 times a day - "Try not
eating gluten"
