Bob,
Gateway keyboards are programmable. If by mistake a 'remap' key is
pressed (LED begins flashing) and you press any two keys in sequence, you
re-assign the first key to act as the second one. Such re-mapping goes on
until you press the 'remap' key again.
In order to restore remapped key to its original value press 'remap' key
once and then hit any offending key twice (to remap it to its former
self). Finish the procedure by hitting Remap key again (you'll notice
green LED light will stop flashing when remap mode is off).
