You need hardware modems...
Generally they are described as being good for "any"
Operating System...
If external, they need a "high speed port" connection
on your computer. (Watch out, as I doubt a 486-40
will have that now...)
"All" these little $15-$50 modems require the computer
CPU to do all the work, and require Windows...
If you get any replies off list please let me know if they
work out...
I have a couple of "hardware modems", but paid lots more
for them. They are USR (3com), internal and external, and
work great!
