Hello,

I have a Compaq 1230 laptop that I would like to use to make voice telephone calls.
I have been able to make a connection and I can hear the other person but they can
not hear me. I have reviewed my microphone connections and computer settings with
Compaq and CompUSA tech support but this has not helped. Also CompUSA tech
support has installed the latest drivers, still without success.

I would like to ask the experts at PCBuild 2 questions:

1. Is it possible to make voice calls using the existing hardware in my Compaq 1230?

2. If not, can you recommend a specific modem that I could use that would enable voice
conversations? (The Compaq 1230 can accept a Type 1 or Type 2 PC Card).

Thank you for any help.

Carl DiStefano
