How could I connect an external tape DAT8e to a
smartRAID V Century PM2654U2 controller. The DAT
comes with an external scsi cable 50 pin low density
to 68 pin high order line termination, single ended
1 meter? I know I need a converter or another cable.
But I don't recognize the part name of the cable for
the two little thin scsi connectors, one beside the
other in the same mounting bracket, that come with
the controller.
According to <http://www.dpt.com/pdf/pm2654u2r.pdf>
there is an external "Very High Density" 68 pin connector
(also called VHD or .8mm HD) on the DPT PM2654U2 controller.
Your cable has a 68 pin "High Density" 68 pin connector (also
called 68 pin Micro-D) on the end that goes to the external
connector on the controller.
You need the following converter:
part number 7230 ".8mmVHD 68male to 68female MicroD" US$59.
at <http://www.scsipro.com/catalog/pg01_adapters.htm>.
They also carry the proper cable for your proposed setup, but
it would be less expensive to buy the converter.
This vendor is Granite Digital who sell very high quality SCSI
cables, converters, and terminators. Their prices are rather
high however. (I get all my SCSI connectors from them.) Their
general webpage is <http://www.scsipro.com/catalog/index.htm>.
