I suspect that you made an incorrect entry during SETUP, when you entered
the numbers of Cylinders, Heads, Sectors, etc. to be stored in the CMOS
non-volatile memory. Check it carefully against your manual/drive
specifications. A hardware malfunction or software error could have the
same effect.
Try entering "D:", without the "s, to see if the system recognizes the
D:\> drive (or whatever letter represents the CD-ROM drive).
Also "dir" for DIRECTORY, "help" for HELP; or "dir *.bat/s/p",
"dir *.exe/s/p", "dir *.com/s/p" for the names of batch, executable,
and command files. Then you should be able to use "name/?" to find
out what NAME.COM does.
