Yes - she designed the machines to apply pressure all over the body of
the
cattle to calm them BECAUSE that was the only way she herself could
feel
calm. She also sets up slaughterhouse ramps and chutes to eliminate
distracting stimuli that cause fear reactions (chains, lights, etc.).
Her
descriptions of seeing the world in pictures (rather than words or
concepts)
is really fascinating, and makes her attainment of higher education
and
ability to communicate well with language all the more incredible.
