Kevin,
I apparently was in error when stating that *usb.cat*'s location would vary
from computer to computer by the alphanumeric string, as Larry Fisk's reply
referenced the same path.

The identity {F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE} is specific to my
computer and should be a different, but similar, alphanumeric string on
other Windows installations.

Kevin ;
did a search of a win98se machine and it found "usb.cat"
in C:\windows\catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
size is 7kb and the type is security catalog.
It is also on my win98se disk in cab 3. you may have to extract it.
I think Winzip will do the job.
I would do a search of the Microsoft knowledge base using "usb.cat" as
the search string.
