hub - maximum bandwidth of the lowest speed device shared amongst all the
computers, also the simplest and cheapest
switch - allows different computers to operate at different speeds,
provides dedicated bandwidths between computers, practically no collisions,
also allows full duplex operation, best but most expensive of the three
switching hub - between a hub and switch, essentially two hubs, one at 10,
one at 100, connected by a 2-port switch, but any port can operate at any
speed, it's basically a hub that allows computers to operate at the
different speeds.
