Paleo man could not have pressed the oil out of that seed, much  less picked
enough to make much of a difference in caloric/fat intake. It takes a lot of
work/technology to press that oil and it goes rancid easily so it must be
pressed in the dark then vacuum sealed in airtight bottles to prevent
oxidation.  Some think  flax oil will oxidize in your body (due to your
ambient body temperature).  There is research I've seen supporting the use
of flax oil and research suggesting that it may instigate cancerous changes
in the body.

There is evidence that LNA (vegetable source omega-3s, linolenic acid) was
readily gotten from green leafy plants.  Nowadays, one can certainly do no
harm and do a lot of good by eating an abundance of dark leafy greens--kale,
collards, mustard greens, arugula, endive, escarole, spring salad mixes,
dark leaf lettuces, purslane, etc.  You get a lot of minerals and vitamins
and antioxidants from these foods; they are low in calories and carbs; and
make a nice compliment to meats.
