Hi everyone,
I'm new to this list and have been gluten free for about a month. I am a
self diagnosed middle aged male, but my dx is supported by symptoms,
anemia as a kid, lactose intolerance, and a positive IgA and IgG gliadin
antibody test done in 1996 (but doc never told me about Celiac disease -
said it was a result due to leaky gut). Been sick for over 5 years and
have chased treatment for Lyme Disease (unconfirmed) and Candida/leaky
gut. I'll spare you the other details. Over the past month since being
GF, my GI symptoms (gas and runs) have resolved almost completely.
Other symptoms have not abated and include: burning eyes, waxing and
waning weird muscle stiffness - legs primarily but felt all over,
occasional "asleep" feeling in hands and feet, occasional muscle pain,
cold intolerance, and occasional brain fog. Energy has never been a
major problem - I have plenty but physical discomfort slows me down. My
question: what can I expect over the next months? Should I have already
experienced improvement in these symptoms or do they gradually remit
over months or even years? Do these symptoms even sound Celiac related?
I recognize that a lot of this sounds like hypothyroidism, but recent
thyroid tests were well within the normal range. I appreciate any
feedback and happy new year to you all.
