<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>
I am 56 years old and have severe osteoporosis as a result of only being
diagnosed with celiac sprue only 4 years ago. Unfortunately my doctors did
not know much about celiac sprue and did not prescribed any preventive
treatment for osteoporosis and when I retired from my job my bones retired
by fracturing everywhere.
I have reviewed the archives which had some good information but would like
further assistance from the list members as follows.
-Know of any bone endocrinologist located in Missouri. I live
in a small town and the doctor situation is not pretty.
-Has anyone taken 50,000 IV of vitamin D successfully without
any problems? A blood test indicated I was low on vitamin D.
-Good source for gluten, lactose, and sugar free calcium and vitamin D
supplements. I now use Freeda and use the powdered form of calcium for better
absorption (I hope).
-Medication and any other recommendations that have been successful
for
list members with osteoporosis.
-Recommendation for a vehicle with air ride or air suspension.
My condition is so bad that when I go anywhere I ride in the back of a
Suburban on an air mattress and several egg crates. A friend had a
'93 Lincoln Continental that had a pretty soft ride and I have tried
'92, '93, '96 Executive Town Car but the Town Car seems to have a
tighter feeling ride that hurts. Plus I need a back seat that is wide
and long enough to lie on (I am 5'2").
I am grateful to have this avenue to solicit assistance and will summarize
the replies I receive.
Thank you.
