I'd only been complaining about GI upset, leaky gut & problems tolerating
wheat for FIVE YEARS before I finally demanded a referal to a GI
specialist to screen for celiac disease. However, before I saw the GI
specialist, I heard about Dr. Kenneth Fine & EnteroLab. I ordered the
gene test. The results really clinched the diagnosis for me and the GI
specialist. (That was the best $150 I've ever spent!) When I followed
up with my GP, I tried to be as kind as I could about his TOTALLY missing
it for five years. I must admit, that I did rather enjoy seeing him
squirm uncomfortably as I presented him with my lab results & an article
from a ligitimate source showing the prevalence of CD and it's many
common, but unrecognized symptoms! I enjoyed the look of shock on his
face when I told him that my prescription medications must now specify
"gluten free" because celiacs can react to mere molecules of gluten. He
thought that giving up bread was about all I needed to get well. HA!
The best part of all was telling him how much I had improved since
beginning a treatment I had learned from the INTERNET, the supposed
source of modern medical quackery!
I've also mailed a packet of information about CD and EnteroLab
to the doctor who has been treating me for fibromyalgia. He also never
considered CD as a possible cause of my GI problems in spite of my
telling him the very specific symptoms I experience when I eat wheat.
He assumed it was a candida & liver toxicity problem even though he had
lab results to the contrary. He put me on bunch of "natural" products
that only made my stomach sicker. I only regret that I can't be there
to see his red face when he reads the information in that fabulous
article printed in American Family Physician

in Your Patients." ~Valerie in Tacoma, WA
