I got ten responses privately. None identified a specifically non GF
product as verified by manufacturer though two reported reactions to
products: Welch's grape claimed GF by Welch for one. Though "modified food
starch" was identified as part of some drinks, no one checked to find out
the source of starch. I found four root beers at a local supermarket: only
one had "modified food starch."

Some of the responses:

>>Since I believe in science and not superstition, and Gluten Free
>>Living documented that natural flavors in everything except meat are
>>GF, I don't worry about them either. However, Mug Root Beer lists
>>modified food starch on the label, so I do avoid that.<<

>>Some of the fruit sodas actually contain "modified food starch." One is an
orange soda from a major company (can't remember which one). It give the
soda a cloudy appearance like they really do contain fruit juice, but
food starch is much cheaper. <<

>>The only soft drink that I have run into that was not gf was root beet. Some
root beers have modified food starch. That seems like a strange
ingredient in a drink but I have seen it on the labels.<<
