I agree with Vic that hoax viruses (memetic viruses) can be very
destructive. I have just had a warning from McAfee about a hoax virus
which advises recipients to delete a key system file (SULFNBK.exe)
which, it claims, is actually a virus!
If you get a copy of this, please ignore it. I suspect, though, that
some people will actually disable their own computers just on the
'advice' of this hoax.
