Over the past months, I've tried two different brands of meringues. First
was Miss Meringue brand, which is marked parve. More recently, I found
Barry's Bakery Merangos, which are not marked with any kosher symbol, but
have a safe-looking ingredient list.
I appear to have my usual unpleasant milk reactions to both of these
products, and I suspect there must be either cross-contamination or
undisclosed dairy ingredients. Have any of you tried either of these and
reactded (or not reacted)?
I eat eggs (boiled, scrambled, fried) somewhat regularly and don't believe
I have any trouble with eggs or egg white. I've made my own meringues in
the past (not recently) and don't recall having any trouble with them.
