Speaking before a large gathering of students and people from all walks
of life Wednesday night on UW campus, the conservative author and
speaker David Horowitz decried the need for slavery reparations in
America, and that such idea is backward and create an awful image of
black progression in America.

Horowitz emphatically declared that no oppression is in America, and
that American society is now multicultural. He criticized reparations
advocate Randall Robinson who spoke here last week, for basing his
arguments on phenotype, which did not virtually explain the essence of
reparations for slavery. "Where are the slaves who experienced such
mistreatment? Are they still alive?" he asked.

He argued that Japanese Americans received redress from the U.S
government in the late 80's because the concentration camp victims were
still alive to testify accordingly through the legal process. It can be
recalled that each Japanese American victim received $20,000 and a
letter of apology signed by former U.S president George W. Bush, Sr.

Horowitz pointed out that slavery was an acceptable thing in Africa
1,000 years before the arrival of Europeans, monarch of empires had
slaves and that the slave trade radiated in other parts of the world.
Statistically Horowitz said, the United States engaged in 1% of the
slave business, whereas the muslim world participated largely in such
endeavor. Arguably, he emphasized that America founding fathers did a
good service to all ethnic groups that migrated here, and that slavery
was eventually abolished and denounced. Abraham Lincoln, declared to the
nation that slavery was wrong and against God's will, since we all are
created equal. "It is a wrong idea to ask for money and apology at this
time in history" he stressed.

Horowitz quickly noted that the campaign by black advovates to confront
white ethnic America by blaming them for past wrongs is a stupid thing
to do because blacks are assimilating politically, socially and
economically; 75% of blacks in America today are living above the
federal poverty line. Accordingly, this assimilation is evidenced by the
highest offices occupied by Colin Powell, Condelleza Rice, and other
blacks who are part of the country's decision making process; no other
nation in the world would allowed minority to take over its security
apparatus like the U.S.

Though Horowitz realized that there is a dire need to revamp the poor
educational system in inner cities and to empower communities by
tangible results of family values aimed at minority group. He concluded
that blacks in America are 20-50 times richer than those who live in
Africa, and that is the reason why people from all over the world are
flooding the U.S for better life.

If you would like to make any comment(s) on David Horowitz's arguments,
please feel free to do so.

Thanks,
Alex Redd
