I am new to the list and checked the FAQ list before posting so I hope
this isn't a repeat.
I just read an article on celiac disease in Diabetes Forecast. I had
never heard of this before. I have been a type I diabetic for around 25
years and have always experienced alternating diarrhea and constipation
even before diabetes. More recently I experienced symptoms which my
endocrinologist attributed to gastroparesis: belching, periodic vomiting
when couldn't be traced to illness or any other reason. I have been on
propulsid for about 18 months but sometimes continue to have diarrhea. I
usually get diarrhea in connection with high blood sugars (300 and
above.) Has anyone on the list been through a diagnosis of gastroparesis
and later found that they had celiac disease? What's the difference
between the two and is that a common misdiagnosis for diabetics?
Please forgive my ignorance. I need some facts before going to my
endocrinologist. I sometimes think he thinks I'm a hypochondriac
although he never says so.
