I have certainly noticed that increased stress causes my digestive system
to act up. The best (or worst, as it were) example was when my wife and I
had our baby. She had several complications near the end of the
pregnancy, a difficult delivery by c-section, and more complications
afterward. This, combined with facing the unknown world of fatherhood,
left my intestines in knots for about two days--bad intestinal pain, lots
of gas, etc.

The connection with stress seems consistent with the "trigger factor"
required to initiate CD in most people, which is often reported some kind
of stress. I have met a number of men who say that they first started
having symptoms after becoming engaged. Women often show symptoms after
pregnancy, some reports say.
