Well guys, We've been to the GI for my 5 year old daughter. He is
sufficiently concerned about her elevated IgG (58) but says the
pediatric values I had obtained from my son's GI are not accurate,
indicating that her IgA-AGA and IgA-tTG results were in the normal
range, rather than moderately positive. ANY INFO ANYONE has regarding
the difference in adult and pediatric values could really help me sort
out what is going on here! But he did test her for IgA deficiency and
reticulin autoantibodies. We got those results today and they show
negative on reticulin (though I know that this test is extremely
undersensitive, picking up only 60% of celiacs, and it wasn't even done
at a specialty lab) and it showed no IgA deficiency according to the
values provided, which I have no choice but to trust without knowing
definitively if there is indeed a separate range for pediatric patients.
We have her scheduled for endoscopy next Monday. I think the only
reason to go forward with the scope in the face of only one problematic
blood test result is the fact that my son has celiac, so there is a good
chance that one result may indicate an actual problem. Still, I am
confused by these results. How can she be negative on all but one?
Still my son was negative on all bloodwork, and positive on biopsy - but
he had only been ingesting gluten for about a year (diagnosed at age 2)
and she has been eating gluten for at least 4. Any thoughts would be
appreciated.

So, in conclusion...
her IgA anti-gliadin antibodies was 2. IgG was 58. Her tTG, based on
IgA was 3. No reticulin antibodies detected. Overall IgA measured in
range at 84 (range 25-160), IgG in range at 768 (range 399-1075) and IgM
in range at 134 (range 34-151). Therefore no IgA deficiency to explain
apparently normal IgA-AGA and IgA-tTG.

We are going to be submitting blood samples to the University if
Maryland study, to contribute to the research and hopefully get some
more definitive answers on all of us undiagnosed relatives of our celiac
son!
