Your autoexec.bat file may not always have what it takes to load CD-ROM
drivers in DOS mode. The mscdex.exe file needs to be loaded. the command
line should look something like this

c:\windows\mscdex.exe /d:mscd000

This then uses the environment variable set up in the device= command in the
config.sys file. If this does not exist in your autoexec.bat, as well as a
copy mscdex.exe on your boot floppy, then you will not get the drivers to
load.

If you are still having problems, or this does not make sense, send me an
email offline with questions and I will help you out. Also, it would help
to include a copy of your autoexec.bat and config.sys files to be sure we
aren't shooting blanks here. Hope this helps.

Kyle
