I am writing to get opinions about something.
As you all remember back on March 3rd Zachary had a near drowning accident, then almost died of pneumonia a week later.
Well, today I went and got copies of the medical notes on this stay for the near drowning. In these notes are the lab reports, and on one of these reports it clearly shows he was positive for the bacteria that causes pneumonia. That means they knew Zachary had a good chance of coming down with pneumonia before they released him from the hospital. They did not tell us the chances of him coming down with it, nor did they give him any antibiotics to try and prevent it.
We would have never agreed to taking him home that following Monday (the 6th) if we knew there was a chance of the pneumonia.
Needless to say he was back in the hospital less than 48 hours after being discharged with severe respitory distress and almost dying (according to his pediatrician ).
Is there anything I can do about this ? I mean this was the second time since January where he was admitted to Arnold Palmer, discharged and then having to be readmitted to Health Central with in one or two days because of complications from the original stay.
Any help would be appreciated.
