Does anyone have a solution:

We have a IBM 6400 printer with 16 meg of memory.  The printer will not complete
print jobs 500K or larger.
The printer will restart the job at random points into the job.  The printer is
ethernet connect into a cisco
switched hub.

We have been told that if you place the printer behind a p/c that's running lpd
the problem does not occur?
