I have seen this many times. Nearly always, either some sound
program has muted the midi sounds or lowered the volume on midi
sounds. You should have a speaker icon in your tray, lower right
hand corner of WIndows desktop. Double click on this icon and
check to see if MIDI is not muted and the volume has not been
turned down.
