I have been reading this group for about two years. I would say I am at an
intermediate level in knowledge. I can fix most of my friend's problems
with windows based operating systems. It seems I am always being called
for help. I knew nothing about computers when I bought one two years ago,
and my knowledge is self taught. I have installed additional RAM, sound
and video cards, floppy drives and CD recorders. I can straighten out lots
of problems, but when things get tough my solution is usually to re-format
and start from scratch! I would love some recommendations for increasing
my knowledge. I would like to be able to put an ad in one of the locals
and get paid for doing what I enjoy doing. The local tech schools seem to
be geared more toward data entry and program operation, whereas I am
wanting to learn repair and maintenance. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. I am not adverse to an on-line, or correspondence school but
I imagine there are lots of shady ones out there. Please forgive the
length of this posting, and thanks in advance for any help.
