Actually, our motives are probably far more personal. The basic
question is: do we have an accurate predictive model? Your
situation presents a fascinating challenge -- if we can't explain
it, then we have to ask ourselves whether or not what we think
we understand is really correct.

On the other hand, if our model *is* correct, then somewhere
within it lies the answer -- and the discussions surrounding your
situation help us to refine the model in the process.

Not that I recommend the supplement -- I don't have enough
information &/or understanding. But raises some interesting
issues to look at.
