Good for you and your husband Karen!! A sensible approach. A friend of mine
who is a local well known pediatric neurologist's famous line is: "I'm not
sure your child needs something to slow them down, but I will be glad to
prescribe something to speed you(the parent) up!" Ritalin does improve
concentration in some children, it should be closely monitored. A good primer
for all who wonder about psychoactive meds is Peter Breggin's "Toxic
Psychiatry"
