As we speak non-chemical, low/no water cleaning is going on in New York,
with water rates of 1-10 Gallons of water per HOUR. This might be a solution
to the water penetration part as the pressure on the surface is well below
20 psi. The two companies are JOS, who sells the equipment and a local
French firm, which offers a completely dry system. Hope it helps.

Subject: Facade cleaning catastrophes (or is it --phies?)

A 908- engineer is developing specs for cleaning the facade of the Hotel des
Artistes  (built in 1917 at 1 West 67th Street).  The 212- managing agent
says they are proceeding carefully because they are worried about water
penetration disasters, either from a prolonged mist, or from the
power-washdown of a detergent process.

What's the worst-case event (of this sort) that list members know about?
