I have a 1992 HP 560 DeskJet and about a year ago it started the same
grinding noise at start up, I restart it and it makes no noise, runs great ,
I will use it till the wheels fall off then use my new HP 932C hooked to my
desktop. From what I have read it is nature of the beast, as Jim said
correctly, Use it till it drops then get a new one.
