What I do is to open them up to inspect for burned parts and burned oders.
Also, I looked for blowed fuses.
Than I plug them in to AC voltage and look for burning or arching. Then I
check the voltages at the plugs that connect to the MOBD. Then I connect to
a test MOBD that I know is good.
If every thing works, I leave it running for 4 or 5 hours. Afterwhich, I
close everything up and lable the supply as OK.
If you don't understand electronics, be careful where you put your fingers
with the powersupply open. Capacitors can hold a charge even when not
connected to voltage.
