On the cdrom drive that i have i have the jumper on the midle two pins,
that's my slave mode... The speed decrease of the harddisk is very
minimal... The computer doesn't access the cdrom and the harddisk
simultaniously but will be routed by the I/O... If you copy a 100mb file
from the cdrom to the harddisk the file will be copied in little parts
to minimise the reduce of speed..
