Good Morning:

Has anyone had adverse reactions to DAPSONE when used to treat dermatitis?

The leaflet with the pills lists out numerous dire consequences, including
death itself, but is said to be an old reliable way of originally treating
leprosy and other skin infections. Medical opinion seems to be split on
this - local GP is very adverse to it, but consultant very pro using it.

When diagnosed last Sept/Oct I was on it for a week or two, and felt nauseous
and ended up mentally dozy. Put back on it recently and after 28 days rang
the consultant and said I was stopping it as the dermatitis and itching had
greatly lessened and was limited to mainly my left shoulder, and no longer
looking red and angry. Again I had the same reaction of vague nausea and
mentally dozy, lacking in energy etc.

On my own hook I also used Tea Tree Oil neat on my arms, elbows and legs with
good effect. It goes on wet and dries into the skin within a minute. Rash
greatly reduced in ten days/two weeks, and now gone completely.

Authoritative text on Essential Oils lists it as "unusual in that it is
active against all three infectious organisms: bacteria, fungi and viruses",
among other virtues. Known to the Aboriginal people in Australia since time
immemorial. NOT recommended for sensitive areas, such as throat, and neck
if clothing chafes it.

Used with DiproBase cream rubbed into areas of rashes with cooling and good
results. Now reduced to a few times a day.

Results since Sept/Oct 1999 very good except for the DAPSONE.

Any feedback on the DAPSONE please?

Thank you.
