Thank to those who responded to my inquiry. I was told that I am in luck in
Chapel Hill for gluten-free food. Most members mentioned one healthfood
store, named "Wellspring" on S. Elliott Rd. Phone number is 919-968-1963.
One respondent wrote:
"They are very familiar with GF and CD and even have a chef who bakes
fresh GF cookies and breads on Tuesday mornings. I can usually find 3
items among their fresh deli items for a GF meal! It's a good place for
breakfast or lunch. And the GF items in their grocery isles are labeled
gluten-free near the price tag!"
Wellspring is part of the Whole Foods Chain of stores.
Also: "For lunch or dinner in a real restaurant, the Pyewacket, 431 W.
Franklin St (downtown Chapel Hill near campus), phone: 919-929-2871 is
proud of their sensitivity to GFers, and their food is excellent. I've
had their GF fish dinner, and it was so good I had tears of joy in my
eyes. "

"Another spot to try is Weaver Street Market on the border of Chapel Hill
and Carboro. "
Furthermore, there is a link for the Triangle Gluten Free Group out of
Raleigh Durham North Carolina.
