Hi Listmates:
I have been suffering with a problem of constriction in my throat while
standing, sitting and laying. It was like a someone was taking a rope and
putting it around my throat and pulling very hard. I was dizzy, weak and out
of breath. This has been going on for over two years. My doctor said it was
nothing but anxiety globus like sensation. Look up globus once and you will
get angry at its interpretation. Anyway, I was once again on a chase to
doctors in order to find out what in the world was going on. Dr Joseph Murray
ran me up through and through and came up empty handed. Even up to today, he
is still scratching his head wondering what it could be. As a last resort, he
has prescribed for me to see a behavior modification specialist to deal with
the issue.
I am so stinking obstinate that I would not believe anyone for a moment that
this was a head thing. My husband off and on alluded to a reaction from my
medications. He is an electronic technician and highly analytical. From now
on, I go to him for my problems. Ha Ha. Anyway, besides his thoughts, we
went to friends house for a barbeque and the wife of my husband's friend was
telling me that a gal she works with has Celiac Disease. This gal told her
that she has constriction in her throat whenever she ingests gluten. All of a
sudden the light went off in my head with what she said and my husband had
been saying all along. I immediately thought about the 5mg of Paxil I take
daily and Toprol extra long acting 12.5 mg daily plus my Estratest all of
which are not gluten free. I stopped all three medications yesterday just to
get a baseline idea if this could be the cause. The results were that the
constriction stopped and so did the weakness, sickness etc.
My point is why couldn't the doctors just ask that very question? What else
are you ingesting besides food that could trigger a reaction like this? It is
just another way in which this disease is not being treated FULLY..... I have
been through so many horror stories in the medical world that I am beginning
to despise the entire system. I am getting more and more interested in
people like Julian Whittaker and Robert Atkins who are MD's and are choosing
vitamin, mineral, amino acid and etc therapy to prevent illnesses rather than
treating them. I am sick of allopaths and the big bucks they make to tell
many people that things are in their head.
Hope you all have a great 4th!!!!!!!!
Lisa
