Further to James Young's timely post this morning -

It is very important to treat each question carefully as it might be asked
by a newly diagnosed celiac. To say that something (in this case cinnamon)
is not wheat, rye or barley, totally negates most of the information posters
have been helpful and considerate enough to research and post.

Even the experts make errors such as the following. Hope this is helpful to
others.

Many think, and rightly so, that nuts, raisins, dates, figs etc are
excellent gf snacks. However, in the preparation, such as roasting, salting
and packaging gluten can be added.

Recently, (yesterday?) on the Dr. Gabe Mirkin show, Dr. M stated that a
person who reacts to nuts and raisins isn't celiac.

He is right as far as pure nuts and pure raisins go, but those that are
available in most stores, including health food stores, are not necessarily
gf.

Flour is sometimes used to prevent the fruit from sticking together.

Roasted, and perhaps salted, nuts may also contain hidden gluten.
