I was diagnosed back in July 99...my brother just had the blood test
done. His results were 2 negative & one positive....can anyone explain?
Below is a portion of the email he sent me. Does anyone know if these
mixed results mean he has CD?

I just got my blood test results from the doctor. The gliadin and
reticulin antibody tests were negative, but the endomysial antibody test
was positive. As the Dr. explained, the endomysial test is more
sensitive than the gliadin test, and indicates some level of intestinal
villi atrophy. He wasn't sure what the mixed results indicated as far
as diagnosing Celiac's or not. He recommended I stay on my gluten-free
diet for another 4-5 weeks and have another blood test done. Since the
villi should repair itself quickly, the endomysial test should be
negative by then. Regardless of those results, I'll probably want to
see a GI for follow-up and a biopsy at that time also.

Thank you.
